HP EliteBook 840G1 laptop for everyday work

This HP EliteBook 840G1 laptop ships new with an Intel Core i5 4th Gen processor at 1.60GHz, 16GB DDR3 memory and a 240GB SSD. Windows 10 Home 64 Bit is pre-installed and activates automatically. The 14.0-inch non-touch screen suits office tasks, web browsing and video calls.

Wireless and port limits to expect

The integrated 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN covers legacy Wi-Fi bands only, so modern routers may fall back to slower speeds. A single USB port is listed, which restricts simultaneous peripherals unless a hub is used. Integrated on-board graphics handle basic display output but are not intended for gaming or heavy GPU workloads.

Check memory ceiling and OS upgrade path

Maximum supported memory is 16GB across two slots, so the installed 16GB DDR3 already fills the limit and cannot be expanded. The supplier notes a Windows 11 Pro upgrade option; verify that the i5 4th Gen platform meets Microsoft’s requirements before planning that move. The original lithium-ion battery is tested to hold a charge, but runtime will vary with workload.
