Ready-to-use 14-inch business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840G1 arrives with Windows 10 Professional 64-bit already activated so you can start working immediately. A 1.60 GHz Intel Core i5 4th Gen dual-core processor and 4 GB of DDR3 memory handle everyday office applications. The 500 GB SATA hard drive stores documents and local files. Integrated graphics drive the 14.0-inch non-touch display.

Durable chassis with essential ports

The black mainstream chassis includes a lithium-ion battery tested to hold a charge and an AC adapter for continuous power. One USB port connects a mouse, flash drive or peripheral. Built-in 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN provides network access without cables. An integrated webcam supports video calls. No optical drive is fitted, keeping weight down.

Check memory and storage needs before ordering

The system ships with 4 GB of DDR3 across two slots and supports up to 16 GB if you plan heavier multitasking. Only a single USB port is available, so users with multiple peripherals may need a hub. The 500 GB SATA drive is a traditional hard disk, not an SSD, so boot and load times will be slower than solid-state alternatives.

Questions about this item

Which SATA standard limits the 500 GB hard drive?

The 500 GB drive uses a SATA interface; the controller caps practical throughput at the SATA revision supported by the 4th Gen Core i5 platform.

What are the physical limits for adding a second memory module?

Two DDR3 SO-DIMM slots exist; the board accepts up to 16 GB total, so an 8 GB stick can be added alongside the factory 4 GB module.

How is the Windows 10 Pro licence activated after first boot?

A digital product key is pre-installed; accept the licence agreement and the OS activates automatically without typing the 25-character key.
