Compact Business Desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q Tiny desktop packs an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor with 12 MB cache and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.60 GHz into a micro form factor chassis. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 UDIMM memory and a 3.5 inch 1 TB hard drive for general office workloads. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed alongside a USB keyboard and mouse.

Thermals and Power

The processor carries a 65 W thermal design power rating suited to the compact enclosure. Intel UHD Graphics handles display output without a discrete card, keeping overall system power draw modest for typical productivity tasks. A USB dongle provides 5 GHz capable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Upgrade Considerations

Memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using DDR4 UDIMM modules for users who need more headroom than the standard 8 GB configuration. The platform supports dual-drive arrangements with an M.2 slot alongside the existing 3.5 inch bay for faster boot or storage tiers. Buyers who require discrete graphics performance or more than two internal drives should consider a larger chassis.

Questions about this item

How do I add a second drive to the M720q Tiny and what step is often missed?

Remove the cover, mount the drive in the 3.5" bay using the included caddy, connect the data and power cables, then replace the cover; many forget to initialise the new volume in Disk Management after Windows boots.

What memory upgrades will the M720q Tiny accept later?

The system uses DDR4 UDIMM modules and supports up to 32 GB total, so you can add or replace sticks with any DDR4 UDIMM up to that limit.

Which component hits its limit first during sustained heavy workloads on this M720q Tiny?

The 65 W Intel Core i7-8700 will throttle before the Intel UHD Graphics or the 1 TB hard drive become the bottleneck.
