Compact business desktop with hexa-core processor

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built around an Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a 4.10 GHz maximum turbo frequency. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout: a 256 GB M.2 SSD plus a 1 TB SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed, making it ready for office deployment straight out of the box.

Fits tight spaces and leaves expansion room

The SFF chassis occupies minimal desk depth while still providing internal drive bays for the two included SSDs. A DVD-ROM drive is fitted as standard. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives displays without a discrete card, freeing the single low-profile PCIe slot for other add-in boards. A USB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dongle supplies wireless connectivity without using internal headers.

Peripherals and OS remove extra procurement steps

A USB keyboard and USB mouse are bundled so no separate input devices are required. The Windows 11 Pro licence covers business features such as BitLocker and remote desktop without additional purchase. The 16 GB DDR4 configuration leaves two DIMM slots open for a future upgrade to the 32 GB maximum supported by the platform.

Questions about this item

What limits the Intel Core i5-8500 from holding its 4.1 GHz turbo when all six cores are loaded for long periods?

The 65 W power envelope forces the chip to drop toward its 3.0 GHz base clock once the cooling solution saturates under sustained multi-core work.

How loud or hot does the small-form-factor chassis get when the system runs all day?

The compact SFF case relies on a single system fan; extended loads raise internal temperatures and fan speed enough to be audible in a quiet room.

Which display cables or adapters do I need to connect a monitor, since one is not included?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 provides HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA outputs, so have a matching cable or adapter ready for your screen.
