Small-form-factor business desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a slim small-form-factor desktop built for business environments. It ships with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed and uses an Intel Core i5-8500 six-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with 9 MB L3 cache. The system includes 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe SSD for storage. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles display output.

Build integration and expandability

The chassis requires only a power cord and external peripherals to operate. Dual DisplayPort outputs and a single VGA port support multi-monitor setups without a discrete graphics card. One USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, six USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports provide extensive connectivity for accessories. Gigabit Ethernet is built in; wireless networking is not included and must be added separately if required.

Included accessories and software impact

The package contains the desktop unit and a power cord only. No monitor, keyboard, mouse or speaker set is supplied, so buyers must provide their own input and display devices. Windows 11 Pro is preloaded, delivering business-oriented management and security features immediately. The absence of an optical drive means software installation relies on USB media or network deployment.

Questions about this item

Will the 65 W Intel Core i5-8500 throttle during long compiles or renders?

The processor runs at a 65 W TDP and uses the built-in air-cooling system; sustained heavy workloads will be managed within that thermal envelope.

How loud and hot does the small-form-factor chassis get when the system runs all day?

The M720s relies on its internal air-cooling solution; under continuous load the fan speed increases to keep the 65 W CPU within safe temperatures.

Which display cables and monitor inputs do I need to use the dual DisplayPort outputs?

The desktop provides two DisplayPort connectors and one VGA port; you must supply a monitor with a matching DisplayPort or VGA input and the appropriate cable.
