Ready-to-work 14-inch ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 or T490 ships with Windows 11 Pro, an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core processor, 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. The 14.0 inch FHD IPS panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, three USB 3.1 ports and one USB-C port.

Included power and optional extras

An OEM 45 W or 65 W AC adapter is supplied so the laptop can run and charge immediately. The spec sheet notes that SD or MicroSD card readers and fingerprint readers are optional features and may not be present on every unit. No optical drive is fitted. The front-facing webcam supports video calls out of the box.

Simple setup with cosmetic variance

Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed, so the first boot only requires user account creation and updates. The supplier grades all units as Grade A cosmetic condition; some arrive pristine while others show light scratches or minor blemishes. Because stock varies, you may receive either a T480 or a T490 chassis, which differ slightly in weight and dimensions. Buyers who need a guaranteed single model or a flawless cosmetic finish should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 256 GB SSD need to be replaced for more space later?

The 256 GB SSD can be swapped for a larger SATA or NVME M.2 drive up to 1 TB if you need more capacity.

What limits performance first when the i5-8250U runs at full load for a long time?

The 15 W quad-core processor will hit its thermal ceiling and reduce clocks before other components become the bottleneck.

How loud and hot does the T480 or T490 get when it runs all day on the 45 W or 65 W adapter?

Fan noise stays low during typical office work; sustained loads raise surface temperature around the keyboard deck and the fan spins up audibly.
