ThinkPad T480 or T490 Ultrabook

This 14.0-inch FHD non-touch ultrabook ships with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8550U quad-core processor, 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. It runs Windows 11 Pro and includes an OEM 45/65 W AC adapter. The unit is graded Grade A cosmetic condition and may be either a T480 or T490 depending on availability.

Connectivity and storage limits

Three USB 3.1 ports, one USB-C port, HDMI and RJ-45 Ethernet provide wired and peripheral links. Wireless uses Intel dual-band Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.1. Storage is a single M.2 SSD using SATA or NVME protocol; no 2.5-inch bay or optical drive is present. SD and microSD slots plus a fingerprint reader are optional and not guaranteed on every unit.

Installation notes and common issues

The laptop arrives with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed, so initial setup follows the standard out-of-box experience. Grading is based on stock images; actual cosmetic wear ranges from pristine to light scratches. Because the model supplied can be either T480 or T490, port layout, weight (3.6 lb or 3.2 lb) and chassis dimensions (13.25 x 9.15 x 0.78 in or 12.7 x 8.5 x 0.7 in) will vary. Optional features such as fingerprint reader or card reader may be absent.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the T480 or the T490 when both are listed?

The T480 weighs about 3.6 lbs and measures 13.25 x 9.15 x .78 inches, while the T490 weighs about 3.2 lbs and measures 12.7 x 8.5 x .7 inches; choose the T490 for a lighter, smaller chassis or the T480 if you prefer the slightly larger footprint.

What does the 1.8 GHz quad-core i7-8550U actually deliver in daily work?

The 1.8 GHz base clock on four cores handles office multitasking, web browsing and video calls smoothly; the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS panel for standard productivity and media playback.

Which ports cap the data rate on the USB-C connection?

The USB-C port follows the USB 3.1 standard, so its practical throughput is limited to the 3.1 specification; the system also provides three USB 3.1 Type-A ports, HDMI, RJ-45 Ethernet and Bluetooth 4.1 for other peripherals.
