Ready-to-use ultrabook

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490 is a 14.0 inch FHD touchscreen laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U quad-core processor with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled and the unit ships with an OEM 45W or 65W AC adapter. It arrives in Grade A cosmetic condition, fully tested for functionality.

Connectivity and expandability

Three USB 3.1 ports, one USB-C port, HDMI and RJ-45 Ethernet give wired and wireless flexibility for docks, displays and networks. Intel Dual Band Wireless with Bluetooth 4.1 handles wireless duties. The M.2 slot accepts SATA or NVME drives up to 1 TB, and DDR4 memory can be expanded to 32 GB for heavier workloads.

Suits mobile professionals needing a light

Buyers who want more storage than 512 GB or who require a discrete graphics card should look at something else. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles office and media tasks but is not built for gaming or GPU-accelerated rendering. Units may be T480 or T490 depending on availability.

Questions about this item

Can the 512 GB SSD be swapped for a larger SATA or NVME drive later?

Yes, the 512 GB SSD uses an M.2 slot that accepts both SATA and NVME drives, so a larger drive can be installed when needed.

Will the Intel Core i7-8550U throttle under continuous heavy workloads?

Sustained loads will hit the processor's 15 W thermal limit first, causing the quad-core chip to reduce clocks to stay within its power envelope.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel during an all-day work session?

The thin .7 inch chassis and 45 W or 65 W adapter mean the fan spins up noticeably under load, and the bottom surface becomes warm to the touch after several hours.
