Quad NVMe U.2/U.3 Mobile Rack

The LORDWORLD mobile rack holds four 2.5 inch PCIe NVMe U.2 or U.3 solid-state drives up to 15 mm tall. It mounts in a standard external 5.25 inch optical drive bay and connects through four OCuLink SFF-8612 ports wired to the SFF-9402 Rev 1.1 pin-out.

Builders with tri-mode controllers and 5.25 inch

Suits builders using Broadcom, Areca or similar tri-mode controllers who need hot-swap U.2/U.3 storage in a 5.25 inch bay. Not for systems that lack a 5.25 inch external bay or an OCuLink host connection.

PCIe 4.0 x4 per bay via OCuLink

Each bay delivers PCIe 4.0 transfer rates up to 64 Gb/s through its dedicated OCuLink link. Dual 40 x 20 mm fans with high, low and off settings cool the drives inside the full-metal enclosure.

Questions about this item

Will the 40x20mm cooling fans need replacement after continuous operation?

The dual 40x20mm fans have High, Low and Off settings; running them on Low reduces wear while still moving air across the four U.2/U.3 bays.

Does the 64Gb/s PCIe 4.0 limit per bay become the bottleneck before the OCuLink SFF-8612 links saturate?

Each bay is rated for 64Gb/s over PCIe 4.0, and the four OCuLink SFF-8612 connections follow SFF-9402 Rev 1.1 pin-out, so the per-bay ceiling is reached first.

How loud are the dual 40x20mm fans when the rack runs all day in a 5.25" bay?

Three speed settings (High, Low, Off) let you balance airflow against noise; Low provides cooling with minimal sound for all-day operation.
