What this extractor does

The LUOM HDMI ARC Audio Extractor takes the Audio Return Channel signal from a compatible television and converts it to optical Toslink, coaxial SPDIF and 3.5 mm stereo jack outputs. It is intended for viewers who want to send TV audio to a soundbar, amplifier, home-theatre receiver or powered speakers that lack an HDMI ARC input. The television must provide an ARC-labelled HDMI port; without that port the adapter cannot function.

Replacing a direct HDMI link

This unit replaces a direct HDMI ARC connection when the receiving audio device only accepts optical, coaxial or analogue stereo inputs. The upgrade is worth it when the TV remote needs to control volume over CEC and the system requires simultaneous digital and analogue outputs without adding a separate AV receiver. It supports 24-bit audio at 32, 44.1, 48, 96 and 192 kHz sampling rates, handling PCM 2.0 and PCM 5.1 channel formats.

Build integration and requirements

The converter draws power from an included USB Type-C cable, so a spare USB port or 5 V charger is needed alongside the HDMI ARC cable from the TV. An HDMI 2.0 cable is recommended for reliable signal transmission. The aluminium alloy housing passively dissipates heat. The 3.5 mm jack outputs only PCM or LPCM stereo, while the optical and coaxial ports carry the multi-channel stream. No drivers or software configuration are required.

Questions about this item

Does the converter need external power to operate?

The package includes a Type‑C power cable; connect it to a USB port or charger to power the aluminium‑alloy extractor.

How do I connect the extractor to my TV and audio gear?

Link the TV HDMI ARC port to the converter with an HDMI 2.0 cable, then run optical, coaxial or 3.5 mm leads to the soundbar or amplifier.

Which audio formats can the 3.5 mm jack carry?

The 3.5 mm output supports only PCM and LPCM stereo; multichannel formats such as Dolby AC3 or DSD require the optical or coaxial ports.
