Digital audio converter for analog systems

The LUOM OZHL2 converts optical, coaxial and USB digital sources into stereo analog output through RCA and 3.5mm connections. It accepts PCM and LPCM formats at sampling rates of 32, 44.1, 48, 96 and 192KHz with 24 bit depth. A front panel volume knob and included IR remote control the output level directly. The USB input is intended for PC audio playback only and does not read USB storage devices.

Sustained operation with headphone load

The built-in amplifier delivers 125mW per channel into a 32ohm load and supports headphones from 32 to 600ohm impedance. Because the device draws power from the supplied USB cable, continuous output remains stable as long as the host port maintains its rated current. No internal battery or external power supply is used, so performance does not degrade over long listening sessions.

Passive cooling and silent operation

The aluminum enclosure dissipates heat without a fan, keeping the unit completely silent during normal use. Power consumption is limited to the USB 5V rail, so the converter adds negligible load to a PC or media player. The digital inputs must be set to PCM or LPCM on the source device; bitstream formats such as Dolby Digital or DTS are not decoded and will produce no sound.
