What this cable does

The LUOM PD100W is a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 USB-C to USB-C cable sold as a two-pack. Each 3.3-foot cable delivers up to 100W power, 20Gbps data transfer and 4K 60Hz video output. It suits owners of USB-C laptops, tablets, SSDs or monitors who need charging, fast file moves and display extension in one lead.

The spec that decides fit

Your device must support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 or Thunderbolt 3/4 for the 20Gbps data rate, and its USB-C port must carry DP Alt Mode for 4K 60Hz video. Without DP Alt Mode the video function will not work, and without the high-speed interface data falls back to lower speeds.

Thermals noise power in use

The cable carries up to 100W (20V/5A) with no active cooling, so it stays silent during charging. Normal operation adds no audible noise and the only heat is the expected warmth from 100W power delivery through the conductors.

Questions about this item

How does the 20Gbps data rate perform when the cable is connected to a real device?

The cable reaches 20Gbps only when both the host and the peripheral support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 or Thunderbolt 3/4; otherwise the link falls back to the lowest common speed.

What does the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface limit in everyday use?

It caps data at 20Gbps, power delivery at 100W (20V/5A), and video at 4K 60Hz, provided the device also implements DP Alt Mode.

What physical clearance does the 3.3FT cable need to fit between a laptop and a monitor?

At 3.3FT the cable spans roughly one metre, so allow that distance plus a little slack for the male-to-male USB-C connectors on each end.
