The LUOM USB 3.1 Gen 2 enclosure houses M.2 NVMe SSDs in sizes 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280. It uses a JMS583 controller with UASP and TRIM support to reach 10 Gbps over a Type-C connection. The tool-free, transparent case lets you see the drive and includes an aluminium plate for heat dissipation. It is aimed at users who want portable, high-speed NVMe storage up to 2 TB.

Compatibility check

This adapter only accepts M-key NVMe PCIe SSDs; it will not work with SATA-based NGFF drives, M.2 PCIe AHCI models or mSATA modules. Verify that your SSD is an NVMe M-key part before ordering. The package supplies both a Type-C to Type-C cable and a USB-A to Type-C cable for host connection. Windows, Linux and macOS are supported without extra drivers.

Thermals and power

The aluminium plate and thermal pads conduct heat away from the SSD during sustained transfers. No fan is fitted, so airflow inside the host chassis or an open desk space helps keep temperatures down. Power is drawn entirely from the USB bus, so the enclosure adds no separate power requirement.
