Two 9.5-inch CPU 8-pin extension cables extend PSU-to-motherboard power connections up to 400 W
This two-pack of Monoprice CPU 8 pin extension cables adds 9.5 inches of reach between a power supply and a motherboard. Each cable uses a male ATX 12V 8 pin (4+4) connector on one end and a female ATX 12V 8 pin connector on the other. The 18AWG tin-coated copper wire is rated for up to 400 W. A self-adhesive tape strip is included for cable management.
These cables suit anyone whose PSU CPU lead falls short of the motherboard socket in a large case or behind a tall cooler. They are not for connecting a graphics card; the supplier warns that using them for a GPU will cause damage. They also do not convert voltage or pin-outs, so they cannot adapt a PCIe 8 pin source to a CPU 8 pin destination.
The 1007-18AWG conductors comfortably handle typical desktop CPU power draws up to the 400 W rating. Headroom runs out if the system demands more than 400 W through the EPS connector, or if the 9.5 inch length still leaves a gap in an exceptionally large chassis.

Your power supply needs an ATX 12V 8-pin (4+4) male output; the cable’s male end plugs into that port and the female end reaches the motherboard.
Yes — the 4-pin section slides off the 8-pin block, letting the cable connect to a legacy 4-pin motherboard header while the female end stays on the PSU side.
The system should POST and run stably under load; if the CPU receives clean 12 V the board will not report power errors or throttle unexpectedly.
