Ready for competitive play

The MSI Vector A16 is a 16-inch gaming laptop built around an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with 16 cores and 32 threads. It pairs that CPU with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU carrying 12 GB of GDDR7 video memory. A 240 Hz QHD+ IPS panel at 2560 x 1600 resolution delivers smooth motion for fast-paced titles. The system ships with 32 GB of DDR5 5600 MHz memory and a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe M.2 SSD, running Windows 11 Pro out of the box.

Fits a mobile workstation setup

Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports support Thunderbolt 5 at 40 Gbps for high-speed docks or external GPUs. Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports handle legacy peripherals without adapters. HDMI 2.1 drives an external 4K display at high refresh rates. RJ45 gives a wired link to a router with MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 MT7925 and Bluetooth 5.4 as wireless fallbacks. The 90 Wh battery and 330 W AC adapter keep the machine running away from a wall outlet.

Extras that change daily use

A 24-zone RGB backlit keyboard with anti-ghosting across 99 keys lets you customise lighting per game. The 1080p webcam includes an IR sensor for Windows Hello and a physical privacy shutter. SteelSeries per-key RGB software adds macro recording and per-game profiles. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 reduce latency for wireless headsets and controllers. The 330 W adapter charges the 90 Wh pack quickly between sessions.

Questions about this item

How long does the 90 Wh battery last under continuous heavy load before it hits empty?

The 90 Wh pack feeds a 330 W adapter and a 16-core Ryzen 9 8940HX plus RTX 5070 Ti; under full sustained load the battery will deplete in well under two hours.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures when the CPU and GPU run at 100 % for hours?

The 1.12-inch chassis uses MSI's Cooler Boost 5 with dual fans and multiple heat pipes; expect audible fan ramp and keyboard-deck temperatures in the mid-40 °C range during prolonged max-load sessions.

Which external items must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 5 ports at their full 40 Gbps speed?

You need a Thunderbolt 5-certified cable and a Thunderbolt 5 peripheral such as a dock, eGPU enclosure or NVMe SSD enclosure; legacy Thunderbolt 3 or 4 devices will fall back to lower speeds.
