18-inch QHD+ 240Hz laptop for creators and gamers

The MSI Vector A18 combines an 18.0 inch QHD+ panel running at 240Hz with an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX 16-core processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU equipped with 16GB GDDR7 memory. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR5 system memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD complete the core specification. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed. The chassis measures 15.91 by 12.09 by 1.26 inches and weighs 7.94 pounds.

Vapor-chamber cooling

A vapor-chamber thermal solution feeds dual fans to move heat away from the CPU and GPU during extended sessions. In typical mixed workloads the system remains audible but not intrusive, and power draw scales with the 16-core processor and RTX 5080 graphics under full utilisation. The 100% DCI-P3 IPS-level display maintains colour accuracy while the cooling subsystem manages thermals.

USB 4 and HDMI 2.1 expand external workflow

Two USB 4 ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery 3.1, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and an HDMI 2.1 output supporting 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz enable multi-monitor setups and fast peripheral connectivity. An RJ45 jack, combo audio jack and SD card reader round out the physical interfaces. MTK Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 provide modern wireless performance. A backlit keyboard and integrated webcam support productivity and streaming without extra accessories.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512GB PCIe SSD and what step do people miss?

The laptop ships with the 512GB PCIe SSD already fitted by the engineer upgrade. The step buyers miss is confirming the drive appears in the BIOS boot order before loading Windows 11 Home.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR5 memory need later?

The 16GB DDR5 is soldered and cannot be replaced. Maintenance is limited to keeping the vents clear so the Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5080 stay within thermal limits.

What limit appears first on the 18" 240Hz panel during long gaming sessions?

Sustained load on the RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 will hit the thermal ceiling before the 240Hz refresh or 2560x1600 resolution becomes a bottleneck.
