AX1800 WiFi 6 mesh extender

The Netgear EAX15-100NAS is a wall-plug wireless range extender built on the WiFi 6 standard. It connects to an existing 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz router to expand coverage for households with many connected devices. The compact unit uses internal antennas and requires only a standard wall outlet for power. It suits renters or homeowners who want better signal without running cables.

Capacity and headroom

The extender delivers a combined wireless rate of up to 1.8 Gbps, split as .6 Gbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 1.2 Gbps on the 5 GHz band. OFDMA allows efficient simultaneous transmission for 20-plus wireless devices. A 1.3 GHz dual-core processor handles 4K UHD streaming and gaming traffic. The single gigabit Ethernet port caps wired backhaul or client connections at 1000 Mbps.

Build quality and daily use

The white plastic housing measures 5.90" x 2.70" x 2.10" and weighs .49 lb, leaving the second wall socket free in most duplex outlets. Internal antennas keep the profile flush against the wall with no protruding elements. Setup uses a browser interface compatible with Internet Explorer 8.0, Firefox 20, Safari 5.1, Chrome 25.0 or higher. One WiFi name and smart roaming let devices move between router and extender without manual reconnection.
