Rugged 14-inch laptop for field work

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 is a semi-rugged notebook certified to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 standards. It targets professionals who need a device that survives vibration, dust and water exposure in outdoor or industrial environments. The chassis includes a dedicated GPS receiver, 4G LTE mobile broadband and a smartcard reader for secure authentication. A digitizer pen is included for precise input on the non-touch display.

16 GB memory ceiling and 256 GB SSD

The system ships with 16 GB of RAM, which matches the maximum supported capacity, leaving no room for future memory upgrades. The 256 GB solid-state drive provides fast boot and application loading for the Windows 10 Pro operating system. Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles the 1366 x 768 HD panel adequately for office applications and mapping software, but it runs out of headroom for modern 3D workloads or video editing. The single-core Intel Core i5-5300U processor at 2.3 GHz limits multi-threaded performance.

Integrated connectivity reduces external dongles

Built-in 4G LTE, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1 and 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi keep the laptop online without extra peripherals. The DVD-ROM drive, fingerprint reader and smartcard reader are integrated, freeing USB ports for other accessories. Gigabit LAN offers a wired fallback when wireless signals are weak. Buyers who need a touchscreen, higher resolution display or user-upgradeable memory should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 10/100/1000Mbps LAN port on the CF-54 work with my older 100Mbps switch?

Yes, the Gigabit Ethernet port auto-negotiates down to 100Mbps so it will link with your existing switch without any configuration.

How can I verify the 4G LTE module and GPS receiver are active after first boot?

Open Windows Device Manager and confirm the mobile broadband and GNSS entries appear without errors, then launch the Maps app to see a live satellite fix.

Does the box include the digitizer pen and power adapter, or must I buy them separately?

The digitizer pen and AC power adapter with cord are included; no separate purchase is required for those items.
