Adds a 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-E front-panel port via a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot with SATA power
This adapter adds a 20Gbps USB Type-E front panel header to a desktop via a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot. It suits builders who want high-speed USB-C connectivity on a case front panel. The ASMedia ASM3242 controller manages the link. It is not for systems lacking a free PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slot.
The card plugs directly into the slot and connects to the chassis front panel USB-C cable via the Type-E socket. A SATA power connector supplies stable power for sustained 20Gbps operation. It frees up rear I/O ports by moving fast USB-C access to the front. No extra software is required on Windows 10, 11 or Linux.
The ASM3242 controller and dedicated SATA power prevent speed drops or disconnects during long transfers. External SSDs, high-resolution cameras and professional USB-C peripherals keep full throughput. Backward compatibility with USB 3.2 Gen1, 3.0 and 2.0 handles slower devices without reconfiguration.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The controller is rated for 20 Gbps and the x4 slot provides the matching bandwidth, so the link itself does not throttle the advertised speed.
The ASM3242 draws modest power from the PCIe slot and the SATA connector; no active cooling is required and heat output stays low during continuous use.
Yes — the bracket presents a Type-E socket, so a chassis with a matching internal USB-C header cable is needed to connect front-panel ports.
