Splits one PCIe 4.0 x8 slot into two x4 OCuLink ports (SFF-8611 host, SFF-8612 device) for dual U.2 NVMe SSDs or eGPU docks with VROC RAID0 support
This SMUGDESK adapter converts a single PCIe 4.0 x8 motherboard slot into two independent x4 OCuLink ports. It targets builders who need to attach two U.2 NVMe SSDs or connect an external graphics dock from one expansion slot. The board includes a detachable PCIe header for flexible routing inside tight chassis. It does not serve buyers who want more storage devices than two ports allow.
The key specification is PCIe 4.0 x8 bifurcation, dividing the lane into two x4 links with total bandwidth up to 128Gbps. Each port uses SFF-8611 host and SFF-8612 device connectors for direct U.2 NVMe SSD or eGPU attachment. Motherboard BIOS must support bifurcation; without it the adapter cannot present two separate endpoints.
A built-in signal re-driver maintains clean 4.0 signalling across extended OCuLink cables, preventing errors during sustained RAID0 or compute workloads. The adapter remains compatible with 3.0 and 2.0 slots, though bandwidth scales to the slot generation. Windows and Linux both recognise the bifurcated ports without extra drivers.

The adapter splits one PCIe 4.0 x8 slot into two x4 OCuLink ports, so two U.2 NVMe drives share the full 128 Gbps aggregate throughput for VROC RAID0 or independent workloads.
It provides one SFF-8611 host port and one SFF-8612 device port, each running at PCIe 4.0 x4 and backward-compatible with 3.0 and 2.0.
The detachable bracket fits a standard PCIe x8 or x16 slot and requires only the slot space; cables plug into the SFF-8611 and SFF-8612 ports on the bracket.
