Green PCB expansion card with silver Type-C port and SATA power connector

SMUGDESK

SMUGDESK PCIe 4X to USB3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C Expansion Card 20Gbps ASM3242 SATA Aux Power

SKU CH-EAKN-XPQK6

Adds one 20Gbps USB3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C port via PCIe X4 slot with SATA auxiliary power for stable high-speed storage

  • 20Gbps USB3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C speed via ASM3242 chip
  • PCIe X4 slot fits X4, X8 or X16 motherboard sockets
  • SATA auxiliary power prevents speed drops on high-power SSDs and docks
  • Works with USB 3.2 Gen1, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 peripherals
  • Compatible with Windows and Linux for fast storage expansion

One 20Gbps USB-C port for desktops and workstations

This SMUGDESK expansion card adds a single USB3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C connector running at 20Gbps through a PCIe X4 slot. It targets builders who need fast external storage or docking on a system that lacks native Gen2x2 ports.

PCIe X4 slot plus SATA auxiliary power

The card fits PCIe X4, X8 or X16 slots and draws supplementary power from a SATA connector to keep high-draw SSDs and docks stable. It does not suit small-form-factor chassis without a full-height bracket or spare SATA power lead.

ASM3242 controller maintains sustained throughput

The ASM3242 chip keeps the link at full Gen2x2 speed during long transfers instead of throttling after a short burst. Backward compatibility covers USB3.2 Gen1, USB3.0 and USB2.0 devices on Windows and Linux.

Questions about this item

What limits sustained transfer speed on the 20Gbps Type-C port?

The PCIe 4X slot and ASM3242 controller cap throughput at 20Gbps, so long sequential reads or writes cannot exceed that ceiling.

How much heat or noise does the card add when running all day?

The card has no fan and draws auxiliary power through a SATA connector, so it adds negligible heat and zero audible noise during continuous operation.

What must my desktop already have for this card to work?

A free PCIe X4, X8 or X16 slot and a spare SATA power cable from the PSU are required for installation and stable 20Gbps performance.
