PCIe 5.0 x4 to M.2 NVMe Adapter

This SMUGDESK expansion card adds an M.2 NVMe B+M Key slot through a PCIe 5.0 x4 connection. It targets builders who want to install high-speed NVMe storage in a desktop, workstation or NAS without relying on onboard M.2 sockets.

Fits PCIe X4/X8/X16 slots and 2230-2280 drives

The card accepts M.2 NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2240, 2260 and 2280 lengths and works in any PCIe X4, X8 or X16 slot. Systems limited to PCIe x1 electrical links or motherboards lacking a free PCIe slot cannot use this adapter at its intended bandwidth.

PCIe 5.0 x4 interface speed

The single specification that decides compatibility is the PCIe 5.0 x4 host link; the motherboard must provide a PCIe 5.0 x4, x8 or x16 slot to deliver the ultrahighspeed bandwidth highlighted for high-end NVMe SSD performance.

Questions about this item

Will this PCIe 5.0 x4 adapter work in my older motherboard that only has PCIe 3.0 x8 slots?

Yes, the card is compatible with PCIe X4/X8/X16 slots and will operate at the speed supported by your motherboard slot.

How can I confirm the SMUGDESK adapter is running at full PCIe 5.0 x4 speed after installation?

Check the link speed in your OS device manager or BIOS; it should report PCIe 5.0 x4 when a compatible NVMe SSD is installed.

Does the Set5 package include mounting screws for 2230 2240 2260 2280 SSDs or do I need to buy them separately?

The adapter includes a standard PCIe bracket; M.2 mounting screws are typically supplied with your motherboard or SSD.
