What this drive is and who it suits

The Western Digital My Passport is a 4TB portable hard drive in a slim blue enclosure. It connects through a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and works with Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 out of the box. Chrome OS devices can also use it. People who need a single, compact volume for photos, videos and documents on the move will find it fits the purpose.

Build quality and daily connections

The case measures 0.75 by 2.95 by 4.22 inches and weighs .46 lb, so it slips into a bag pocket without adding bulk. A SuperSpeed USB cable is included and the drive remains compatible with USB 2.0 ports, though at slower rates. Password protection with 256-bit AES hardware encryption is built in, and WD Discovery software handles automatic backup scheduling and drive management on Windows systems.

What to check before ordering

The drive arrives formatted for Windows; macOS and Linux machines will require reformatting before use. WD Discovery software and the automatic backup feature are Windows only, so buyers on other platforms must rely on their own tools. The package contains the drive, cable and quick install guide — no separate power adapter is needed or supplied.
