Some listings also show foam density, such as 40 kg per cubic meter, where a higher number usually means longer-lasting, not necessarily firmer, foam, and fabric weight in GSM (grams per square meter). Removable covers, UV fabric and water resistance

A zippered, removable cover can be washed, which matters outdoors where pollen, sunscreen and rain leave marks. Look for UV-resistant fabric, often described as solution-dyed or fade-resistant, and know the difference between water-resistant and fully waterproof: waterproof backing keeps rain out but can trap moisture inside the foam. Quick-dry (reticulated) foam and a few small drain holes or mesh panels help. For furniture covers, choose a breathable fabric with vents and ties, sized to the piece, rather than a sealed plastic sheet.

GSM is grams per square meter, a measure of fabric weight. Higher GSM in the same material generally means a thicker, more durable cloth, but it says nothing about UV or water resistance, which depend on the fiber, dye and coating.
