Server memory kit for 13th Gen Dell PowerEdge

This 512GB kit contains eight 64GB DDR4 2400MHz ECC LRDIMM modules built for Dell PowerEdge R430, R530, R630, R630 XL, R730, R730 XL, R730xd, R730xd XL, R830 and R930 rack servers. It targets administrators who need maximum registered capacity across all channels in these 13th Gen platforms. Buyers upgrading desktop workstations or consumer motherboards cannot use this memory.

Quad rank load reduced specification

Each module is a 288 pin DDR4 SDRAM rated PC4 19200 with CL17 latency, 1.20V operation and 4Rx4 organisation. The load reduced design reduces electrical load on the memory bus so the server can populate every slot at this density. Mixing these LRDIMMs with standard registered DIMMs is not supported and will prevent boot.

Sustained throughput under load

Rated DDR4 2400 speed delivers consistent bandwidth during extended virtualisation, database or compute workloads. ECC corrects single bit errors in real time to maintain data integrity across long running jobs. The system clock will downshift to the slowest installed module if mixed speeds are present.

Questions about this item

What does the 2400 MHz speed mean once these modules are installed in a Dell PowerEdge R730?

The server will run the memory at 2400 MHz if the processor and BIOS support that rate; if slower modules are also present, the system clocks all channels down to the lowest installed speed.

How does the LRDIMM interface affect usable bandwidth on a PowerEdge R630?

Load Reduced DIMMs buffer the address and command signals, letting the memory controller drive all 8 modules at 2400 MHz without the electrical load limits that cap standard registered DIMM populations.

Will the 288-pin 4Rx4 modules fit the DIMM slots on a PowerEdge R930?

Yes — each 64 GB module uses the standard 288-pin DDR4 DIMM form factor and the quad-rank x4 organisation is supported by the R930 memory subsystem.
