Internal-to-external SAS cable

This 1 metre cable converts an internal SFF-8643 connector on a controller card to an external SFF-8644 port for direct enclosure attachment. It is built for administrators and builders who need to route 12Gb/s SAS links outside the chassis without an intermediate backplane.

Twelve-gigabit interface ceiling

The assembly is rated for the 12Gb/s SAS interface used by current hard drives and SSDs. Signal integrity is maintained across the 36-pin Mini SAS interface, but the cable cannot exceed the electrical limits of the 12G standard or compensate for controller firmware that does not negotiate the top speed.

One-metre reach for rack enclosures

At 1m (3.3ft) the cable comfortably spans from a host adapter to an adjacent JBOD or disk shelf in the same rack. Longer runs to distant cabinets or multi-rack deployments will require the 2m (6.6ft) variant or active extension, because passive copper cannot reliably carry 12G signalling beyond this length.
