Rugged 14 laptop for field professionals

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a new rugged notebook built for harsh environments. Its specialised chassis passes military-grade testing for shock, vibration and extreme temperatures. The 14.0-inch display offers 10-point touch input that works with gloves on. It targets users who need reliable operation outdoors or in industrial settings.

Quad-core i5-8350U with 16 GB DDR4

The processor is an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U with four cores and 6 MB L2 cache, reaching 3.60 GHz. System memory is 16 GB DDR4. Storage is a 128 GB SSD. Integrated graphics are handled by Intel UHD Graphics 620. This combination decides whether the laptop can run your specific business applications.

Sustained performance with hot-swap battery option

Internal 6- and 9-cell packs provide all-day battery life for full-shift productivity. An optional hot-swap bridge battery allows swapping power without shutting down. The rugged chassis manages thermals during extended workloads in high ambient temperatures. Buyers who need discrete graphics or larger storage capacity should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How does the 3.60 GHz maximum turbo speed of the Intel Core i5-8350U affect real-world performance?

The quad-core processor reaches 3.60 GHz on short bursts, so everyday office apps and web browsing feel snappy while sustained workloads run at lower clocks to manage heat in the rugged chassis.

What display outputs are available through the USB Type-C and HDMI ports?

The laptop provides one HDMI port and one DisplayPort alongside USB Type-C, letting you drive two external monitors at up to 1920 x 1080 each without a dock.

What mounting options exist for the 14.0-inch rugged chassis?

The magnesium-alloy frame includes standard VESA mounting holes and integrated handle brackets, so the unit can be fixed to vehicle docks, desk stands or pole mounts used in field deployments.
