Built for harsh environments

The Dell Latitude 5424 is a 14-inch rugged laptop designed to withstand tough conditions. It suits field workers and mobile professionals who need a durable device that survives drops, vibration and extreme temperatures. The non-touch FHD display remains readable in direct sunlight. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory.

Thermals and power in daily use

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and low-power CPU keep heat output modest during typical office and field tasks. Fan noise stays low under light loads such as document editing or web browsing. The system supports internal 6-cell and 9-cell battery packs for extended runtime away from mains power. An optional hot-swap bridge battery allows continuous operation during battery changes.

Ports and connectivity

The chassis provides USB 3.0 ports, USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, a serial port and RJ-45 Ethernet for legacy and modern peripherals. Wireless options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, optional 4G LTE and dedicated GPS for field connectivity. A DVD drive is included for media access. The bundled Dell OEM charger powers the unit.

Questions about this item

How is the 128 GB SSD installed in the Latitude 5424, and what step is often missed?

The SSD slots into the internal M.2 bay after removing the bottom cover; the step often missed is re-engaging the retention screw before reassembling the chassis.

What maintenance will the 32 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The memory is soldered to the motherboard, so no user replacement is possible; only a board-level service can change capacity.

Which limit appears first during sustained loads on the i5-8350U?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 hits its thermal ceiling before the CPU, reducing frame rates in prolonged 3D tasks.
