Rugged 14 laptop for field work

The DELL Latitude 5424 Rugged is a 14.0-inch notebook built to military-grade durability standards for harsh environments. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 16GB DDR4 memory. The chassis uses specialised materials and rigorous component qualification to withstand tough conditions.

Suits mobile professionals; not for heavy GPU tasks

This unit suits field engineers, surveyors and outdoor workers who need a sunlight-readable FHD non-touch display and all-day battery options with hot-swap capability. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles office apps and mapping software. Buyers needing discrete graphics for rendering, CAD or modern gaming should look elsewhere.

Dual M.2 SSD storage with large secondary drive

Storage combines a 128GB M.2 SSD for the OS and a 2TB M.2 SSD for data, giving fast boot and ample project space. The 16GB DDR4 memory supports typical multitasking with dozens of browser tabs and business applications. Very large datasets or virtual machines may exceed the available RAM headroom.

Questions about this item

What ports does the Latitude 5424 need on a docking station to drive two external monitors?

The laptop provides one HDMI and one DisplayPort output, so a dock with matching inputs will support dual displays.

Will the Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle a second 1080p screen alongside the built-in panel?

Yes, the integrated graphics can drive the internal 1920 x 1080 display plus one external monitor at the same resolution.

How can I confirm the dual SSD storage is recognised after first boot?

Open Disk Management in Windows 10 Pro; both the 128 GB and 2 TB drives should appear as separate volumes.
