Built for harsh environments

The DELL Latitude 5424 Rugged is a 14.0-inch laptop designed to withstand extreme conditions. It meets military-grade standards for durability and features a chassis tested for high-cycle performance. This device targets field workers who need reliable operation where standard notebooks would fail.

Upgrade from standard business laptops

Moving to this rugged chassis is worth it when your work exposes hardware to dust, vibration, temperature swings or direct sunlight. The 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display offers high brightness for outdoor visibility. Dual M.2 storage totalling 512GB plus 1TB SSD replaces a single drive for capacity and redundancy.

Suits mobile professionals in tough settings

This configuration suits engineers, technicians and first responders who need 32GB DDR4 memory and an Intel Core i7-8650U processor for demanding applications. Buyers who want a lightweight ultrabook, a dedicated graphics card or a touchscreen display should look at other product lines.

Questions about this item

What M.2 slot sizes does the Latitude 5424 accept for its dual SSD configuration?

The laptop ships with a 512 GB M.2 and a 1 TB M.2 drive installed, so both slots are populated with M.2 form-factor SSDs.

Which screw or latch must be released first when swapping the 512 GB M.2 drive?

Remove the bottom cover screws, lift the cover, then unscrew the single M.2 retention screw before sliding the drive out at an angle.

When should the internal 6-cell or 9-cell battery be replaced in this rugged model?

Replace the battery when runtime drops below a full shift or the hot-swap bridge battery no longer holds charge during a swap.
