Rugged field laptop

The DELL Latitude 5424 is a 14.0-inch FHD non-touch notebook built to military-grade durability standards for harsh environments. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 16 GB DDR4 memory. Storage combines a 128 GB M.2 drive with a 2 TB M.2 drive in a dual SSD configuration. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output on the 1920 x 1080 display.

Sustained workload behaviour

The quad-core i5-8350U operates with a 6 MB L2 cache and speeds up to 3.60 GHz for consistent processing during extended field tasks. Dual SSD storage keeps read and write performance stable across the 128 GB and 2 TB volumes without mechanical drive slowdown. 16 GB DDR4 memory supports multi-application workflows such as mapping, data logging and remote desktop sessions. Integrated graphics maintain steady frame output for 2D rendering and video playback under continuous load.

Thermals noise and power

Rugged chassis construction uses specialised materials and high-cycle testing to dissipate heat without relying on aggressive fan curves. The sealed design protects internal components from dust and moisture while maintaining acoustic levels suitable for quiet workspaces. Internal 6- and 9-cell battery options provide all-day runtime away from wall power. Optional hot-swap bridge battery extends operation further during shift changes without system shutdown.
