Business ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 14.0 inch FHD IPS laptop built for daily office work and travel. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with 16 GB DDR4 RAM. The non-touch 1920 x 1080 display and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle documents, web apps and video calls without a discrete GPU.

Dual-drive storage with 128 GB M.2

The primary 128 GB M.2 drive boots the OS and core applications quickly, while the 1 TB secondary drive holds large project files and media libraries. This combination covers typical business workloads and local backups. Users working with very large datasets or virtual machines may fill the primary drive and need external expansion.

Replaces older dual-core ultrabooks

The jump from a dual-core CPU to four cores with eight threads cuts compile times and multitasking latency noticeably. Swapping a mechanical drive for the M.2 primary drive eliminates boot delays. Buyers who need discrete graphics, Thunderbolt certainty or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" FHD IPS display and Intel UHD Graphics 620 work with my older VGA monitor and HDMI cable?

The laptop includes a VGA port and an HDMI port, so you can connect an older VGA monitor directly and use an HDMI cable without adapters. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives both outputs.

How can I verify the i5-8350U is running at its 1.7 GHz base and 3.6 GHz turbo speeds after I set up Windows 10 Pro?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU frequency readout. It should idle near 1.70 GHz and climb toward 3.60 GHz under load, confirming the quad-core processor is behaving as specified.

Does the box contain the 128 GB M.2 SSD and 1 TB secondary SSD already installed, or do I need to buy and fit them myself?

Both drives are pre-installed — the 128 GB M.2 SSD as the primary boot drive and the 1 TB SSD as secondary storage — so no extra purchase or installation is required.
