Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 14.0 inch business laptop equipped with an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor, 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro installed. The configuration targets users who need reliable multitasking and fast storage in a portable chassis.

Thermals and power in daily use

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory and keeps heat output modest during office workloads. The U-series processor runs at a 1.90 GHz base frequency with a 4.20 GHz turbo ceiling, allowing sustained performance without aggressive fan noise. Power draw remains low enough for all-day battery life under typical productivity tasks.

Ports and expandability

Three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports include one with PowerShare for charging devices while the laptop sleeps. A USB Type-C connector supports DisplayPort output and optional Thunderbolt. HDMI, VGA, RJ45, an SD card reader and a Noble wedge lock slot round out the physical connectivity. Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth handle wireless links.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 32 GB DDR4 RAM and what step do people get wrong?

The 32 GB DDR4 memory is factory-installed in the two SO-DIMM slots; the common mistake is trying to add a third module when only two slots exist.

What maintenance or replacement will the 512 GB SSD need later?

The 512 GB SSD has no moving parts; plan to replace it only if SMART data reports wear or if you need more than 512 GB capacity.

What thermal limit appears first on the i7-8650U during sustained loads?

The Intel Core i7-8650U will hit its 4.20 GHz turbo ceiling and then throttle to stay within its 15 W TDP envelope.
