Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch UHD touch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor. It carries 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout of 128 GB M.2 plus 4 TB SSD storage. The 3840 x 2160 IPS panel covers 72% colour gamut and includes multi-touch input. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 handles professional graphics workloads.

Suited for creative pros, not ultra-light travellers

This configuration targets engineers, designers and content creators who need certified Quadro graphics, a high-resolution touch display and large local storage in a single chassis. Buyers who want a lighter daily carry or longer battery runtime should look at thinner ultraportables. The system ships with Windows 10 Pro and a Dell AC adapter.

Straightforward setup, watch thermals under load

Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed so the workstation is ready to use after the initial out-of-box experience. Connect peripherals via two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port and HDMI 2.0. The dual-fan cooling system manages heat, but sustained heavy rendering can push temperatures high; keep vents clear and use a flat surface for best airflow.

Questions about this item

What storage drives must I already have to expand beyond the included 128 GB M.2 and 4 TB SSD?

The laptop provides one M.2 slot and a 2.5-inch bay; adding a SATA or NVME drive in either slot extends capacity beyond the factory 128 GB M.2 plus 4 TB SSD.

Will my older USB 3.0 peripherals work with the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports and the Thunderbolt port?

Yes — USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports are backward compatible with USB 3.0 devices, and the Thunderbolt port accepts USB-C cables for legacy peripherals.

How can I confirm the 3840 x 2160 touch panel and Quadro P2000 are running at full performance after setup?

Open Windows Display Settings to verify 3840 x 2160 resolution and touch input, then run NVIDIA Control Panel to confirm the Quadro P2000 reports 4 GB GDDR5 and driver version.
