Mobile workstation for creators

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor and 32 GB DDR4 RAM. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 handles professional graphics workloads. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed.

Suited for CAD and video editing

This configuration fits engineers and designers who need certified drivers and a colour-accurate 1920 x 1080 IPS panel covering 72% colour gamut. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 support external displays and docks. Buyers who need more storage or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

Dual-drive storage layout

The machine combines a 512 GB M.2 drive with a 1 TB SSD, providing two separate volumes for operating system and project files. Both drives use solid-state media with no mechanical hard disk present.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512 GB M.2 plus 1 TB SSD configuration or a smaller single drive?

The listed model already includes a 512 GB M.2 drive and a 1 TB SSD, giving two separate volumes for OS and data without any extra purchase.

What does the 4.80 GHz turbo speed mean for everyday workloads?

The i9-8950HK can boost to 4.80 GHz on up to six cores, so heavy rendering or compilation bursts finish faster while the 12 MB cache keeps data close.

What can the Thunderbolt 3 port actually drive?

Thunderbolt 3 provides four lanes of PCIe plus DisplayPort, so you can run two 4K monitors or attach a fast external GPU enclosure through the single USB-C connector.
