Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics with 4GB GDDR5. It ships with 32GB DDR4 RAM and dual storage comprising a 128GB M.2 drive plus a 4TB SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Build and daily connectivity

The silver chassis uses an InfinityEdge FHD IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 with 72% colour gamut and a non-touch surface. Ports include two USB 3.1 Gen 1 connectors, one Thunderbolt 3 port with x4 PCIe lanes, HDMI 2.0 and a headphone/microphone combo jack. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are integrated and a Dell AC adapter is included.

Upgrade context

This configuration replaces older mobile workstations limited to dual-core CPUs, smaller SSDs or integrated graphics. The jump is worthwhile when workloads demand six cores with turbo up to 4.80 GHz, professional Quadro drivers and multi-terabyte local storage in a 15.6-inch form factor. Buyers who need more than 32GB RAM or a higher refresh display should look elsewhere.
