Mobile workstation for CAD and 3D workflows

The Dell Precision 7730 pairs a six-core Intel Core i7-8750H with a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card carrying 6 GB GDDR5 memory. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and dual M.2 solid-state drives — 256 GB plus 1 TB — provide fast local storage for large assemblies. The 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel covers 72 % colour gamut at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 define external display

One Thunderbolt 3 port and one HDMI 2.0 output drive external monitors; the HDMI 2.0 connection supports 4K at 60 Hz while Thunderbolt 3 can carry higher resolutions or daisy-chained displays. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and a headset jack complete the wired I/O. Wireless connectivity uses the integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo module.

Verify power adapter and OS requirements before

The unit ships with a Dell AC adapter; confirm the connector and wattage match your docking or travel setup. Windows 10 Pro is installed — ensure your software licences and IT policies accept this version. The non-touch IPS screen and fixed 16 GB memory mean no post-purchase upgrades to touch input or RAM capacity.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 256 GB plus 1 TB dual-drive configuration or a single larger SSD?

The dual-drive layout gives a fast 256 GB boot volume and a separate 1 TB store for projects, so large data sets stay off the system drive without extra hardware.

What does the i7-8750H 2.20 GHz base and 4.10 GHz boost mean for daily workloads?

Six cores and twelve threads handle multi-threaded CAD renders at 4.10 GHz burst while the 2.20 GHz base keeps thermals manageable during long sessions.

How does Thunderbolt 3 on this 7730 affect external GPU or dock bandwidth?

Thunderbolt 3 provides up to 40 Gbps, enough for an external GPU or dual 4K docks without saturating the link.
