17.3" FHD mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor. It carries 64 GB of DDR4 memory and dual M.2 storage totalling 1 TB plus 128 GB. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS panel. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed.

Suited to CAD and multi-app workflows

Engineers and designers who need certified drivers for CAD, 3D modelling or heavy multi-tasking will find the Quadro P3200 and 64 GB RAM well matched. The single Thunderbolt 3 port and HDMI 2.0 output support external displays. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a lighter chassis or consumer-grade GeForce graphics should look elsewhere.

64 GB RAM and 1 TB plus 128 GB storage headroom

The 64 GB DDR4 configuration handles large assemblies, point-cloud data and virtual machines without paging. The 1 TB primary SSD plus 128 GB secondary drive hold active projects and OS scratch space comfortably. Workloads that exceed 64 GB memory or demand multiple 4 TB drives will hit the platform ceiling.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop need an external power supply to run the i7-8750H and Quadro P3200 at full speed?

The Dell AC adapter included with the Precision 7730 delivers the power required for the 6-core i7-8750H and the Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5.

Will my existing USB 3.0 peripherals work with the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports on this Precision 7730?

Yes, the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports are backward compatible with USB 3.0 devices, so current peripherals will function normally.

How can I verify the 17.3" FHD panel is showing the correct 1920 x 1080 resolution and 72 % colour gamut after setup?

Open Windows Display Settings to confirm 1920 x 1080 is selected, then run a colour-gamut test pattern to validate the 72 % coverage.
