Precision 7730 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation running Windows 10 Pro. It pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card with 6 GB of GDDR5 video memory. The 1920 x 1080 FHD IPS display covers 72% colour gamut and offers wide-screen viewing. Dual M.2 solid-state storage provides a 128 GB drive alongside a 1 TB NVMe drive for fast access to large project files.

Suited for CAD and content creation.

Engineers and designers who need certified professional graphics for CAD, 3D modelling or video editing will benefit from the Quadro P3200 and the hexa-core CPU. The 17.3 inch chassis delivers a spacious screen and full connectivity including Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0 and multiple USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. Buyers who prioritise a thin-and-light device for frequent travel or all-day battery life away from power should look elsewhere, as this workstation is built for performance first.

6 GB Quadro P3200 GPU drives professional 3D

The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB of GDDR5 memory is the specification that determines suitability for GPU-accelerated applications such as SOLIDWORKS, Revit or DaVinci Resolve. It delivers certified driver stability and compute performance comparable to a GeForce GTX 1060, enabling smooth viewport interaction and faster render times. If your workflow relies on integrated graphics or consumer gaming cards, this configuration will not meet those requirements.

Questions about this item

Will the 6-core i7-8750H throttle under long heavy loads?

The 2.20 GHz base and 4.10 GHz boost clocks are managed by the laptop's thermal design; sustained all-core workloads will settle at speeds the cooling can maintain.

How loud and hot does the chassis get during all-day rendering on the Quadro P3200?

The dedicated 6 GB GDDR5 GPU and hexa-core CPU share a vapour-chamber cooler; expect audible fan noise and warm palm-rest areas under continuous load.

Which dock or monitor cables do I need to use the Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 ports?

A Thunderbolt 3 cable or certified dock drives up to two 4K displays, while a standard HDMI 2.0 cable connects a single external monitor.
