Mobile workstation with 128 GB DDR4

The Dell Precision 7730 pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with 128 GB of DDR4 memory and an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPU carrying 6 GB of GDDR5. A 17.3 inch FHD IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution covers 72 % colour gamut for colour-accurate preview. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and a silver chassis.

Dual NVMe storage and Thunderbolt 3 expandability

Two M.2 slots hold a 256 GB drive and a 1 TB drive, both NVMe, leaving no mechanical storage to slow boot or project loads. One Thunderbolt 3 port, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one HDMI 2.0 output and a headset jack handle docks, external GPUs and dual monitors without extra adapters. The single Thunderbolt 3 lane limits total external bandwidth to 40 Gb/s.

Quadro P3200 thermals under sustained load

The dedicated Quadro P3200 is engineered for CAD and 3D workloads comparable to a GeForce GTX 1060, so the cooling system must dissipate both CPU and GPU heat during long renders. Fans spin up audibly when both chips hit turbo clocks, and surface temperatures rise noticeably above the keyboard deck. The included AC adapter supplies enough power for combined peak draw without throttling.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-8750H throttle under sustained all-core loads with the Precision 7730 cooling?

The 8th Gen hexa-core i7-8750H runs at 2.20 GHz base and can reach 4.10 GHz with Turbo Boost; the Precision 7730 chassis uses revolutionary thermals to sustain higher clocks during extended CAD or rendering sessions.

How loud and hot does the Quadro P3200 get when the laptop runs all day?

The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6GB GDDR5 is cooled by the same dual-fan thermal design, keeping surface temperatures and fan noise controlled during long professional workloads.

What must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 and external displays?

The laptop provides one Thunderbolt 3 Type-C port and one HDMI 2.0 output; you need a Thunderbolt 3 dock or monitor and an HDMI 2.0 cable to drive external screens at full resolution.
