Precision 7730 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation powered by an 8th-generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor and an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card with 6 GB of GDDR5 memory. It runs Windows 10 Pro and includes 16 GB of DDR4 RAM alongside dual M.2 solid-state drives totalling 256 GB and 4 TB. A 1920 x 1080 IPS panel and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity complete the configuration.

Engineers and CAD users needing certified drivers

This system suits professionals who rely on ISV-certified Quadro drivers for CAD, CAE or 3D modelling workloads and want a large 17.3-inch screen in a silver chassis. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a higher-resolution display or more than 16 GB of memory should look at other configurations. The 72 % colour gamut panel also limits its appeal for colour-critical creative work.

Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5

The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPU with 6 GB of GDDR5 video memory is the specification that determines suitability for professional 3D applications. It provides certified OpenGL performance for SolidWorks, CATIA and similar packages. If your workflow demands more video memory or a newer GPU architecture, this workstation will not meet those requirements.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 256 GB plus 4 TB dual-drive setup or a single larger drive?

This unit ships with a 256 GB M.2 and a 4 TB M.2 already installed, giving you fast boot space and a large project volume in one box.

What does the 4.10 GHz turbo figure mean when I am rendering or compiling?

The six-core i7-8750H can lift two threads to 4.10 GHz for short bursts, so single-threaded CAD tasks see peak speed while sustained multi-core loads settle lower.

What can the Thunderbolt 3 port actually drive in my workflow?

Thunderbolt 3 carries 40 Gbit/s, so you can run two 4K displays, attach an external GPU, or move large datasets to NVMe storage at full PCIe speed.
