Mobile Workstation 17.3" FHD

The Dell Precision 7730 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation with a non-touch FHD IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution. It runs on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor reaching 4.10 GHz with Turbo Boost. The system includes 32 GB DDR4 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. Graphics are handled by an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5 dedicated memory. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed.

Suited for CAD and content creation

This configuration suits professionals running computer-aided design, 3D modelling or video editing workloads that benefit from certified Quadro drivers and a large colour-accurate display. The hexa-core CPU and 32 GB memory handle multi-threaded applications and large datasets. Buyers who need a lightweight ultraportable for frequent travel should consider a smaller form factor. Users requiring a touchscreen or higher refresh-rate panel for drawing or competitive gaming will not find those features here.

Verify power and peripheral needs

Confirm your existing dock or monitor uses HDMI 2.0 or Thunderbolt 3 for external video output. The laptop provides two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and one Thunderbolt 3 Type-C port for peripherals. Ensure your software licences are compatible with Windows 10 Pro. The included AC adapter matches the system's power requirements; no additional power brick is necessary.

Questions about this item

Do I need a Thunderbolt 3 dock to connect external monitors to the Precision 7730?

No — the laptop also provides an HDMI 2.0 port and a Mini DisplayPort, so monitors can be attached without a Thunderbolt dock.

Will my older USB 3.0 flash drives work at full speed on the USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports?

Yes, the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports are backward compatible with USB 3.0 devices at their native 5 Gbps rate.

How can I verify the Quadro P3200 is active after installing drivers?

Open NVIDIA Control Panel; the GPU name, 6 GB GDDR5 memory and driver version will be listed under System Information.
