Mobile workstation for CAD and simulation

The Dell Precision 7730 pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with 64 GB DDR4 memory and an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 GPU carrying 6 GB GDDR5 video memory. It is built for engineers and designers who run solid-modelling, rendering or compute workloads on a 17.3 inch FHD IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Dual NVMe storage totalling 5 TB

A 1 TB M.2 drive and a 4 TB M.2 drive combine for 5 TB of solid-state capacity, leaving ample room for large assemblies, point-cloud data and video projects. The 64 GB DDR4 configuration handles multi-application sessions and virtual machines without paging. The Quadro P3200 6 GB frame buffer supports complex viewports but will limit very high-resolution texture work or GPU render queues beyond its memory ceiling.

Silver chassis with Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0

The non-touch InfinityEdge display covers 72 % colour gamut and sits in a silver chassis that includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port, one HDMI 2.0 output and a headset jack. Thunderbolt 3 enables single-cable docking to external GPUs, high-speed storage arrays or dual 4K monitors. The fixed 64 GB memory and integrated battery mean the platform suits stationary power users rather than field technicians needing user-replaceable parts.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.0 HDMI and 3.1 USB ports on this 7730 drive my existing 1080 monitors and 3.0 docks without adapters?

Yes, the 2.0 HDMI and 3.1 Gen 1 ports are backward-compatible with 1080 displays and 3.0 peripherals, so current cables and docks work directly.

How do I confirm the i7-8750H, 64 GB DDR4 and Quadro P3200 6 GB GDDR5 are all detected after first boot?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab — CPU should show 6 cores / 12 threads at 2.20 GHz base, memory 64 GB DDR4, and GPU NVIDIA Quadro P3200 with 6 GB GDDR5.

Does the box contain the Dell AC adapter or must I buy a charger separately?

The Dell AC adapter is included in the box; no separate charger purchase is required.
