Mobile workstation for CAD and rendering

The Dell Precision 7730 combines an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with an NVIDIA Quadro P3200 graphics card carrying 6 GB GDDR5 memory. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and three terabytes of NVMe storage across two M.2 drives provide capacity for large assemblies and datasets. A 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution covers 72 % colour gamut for colour-accurate review work.

Connectivity and software ready for professional

Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed so the system boots straight into a familiar managed environment. Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0 and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports allow multiple external displays and high-speed peripherals without docks. The included Dell AC adapter powers the hexa-core CPU and dedicated GPU under sustained loads. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth handle wireless collaboration and peripheral pairing.

Verify power, display

Confirm the supplied AC adapter matches your regional mains voltage and connector standard. The single Thunderbolt 3 port carries both video and data, so plan adapter cables if you need simultaneous external monitors and storage. Internal M.2 slots are populated with the 1 TB and 2 TB drives, leaving no free NVMe slot for future expansion without removing an existing drive. Buyers requiring touchscreen input or a higher refresh-rate panel should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How often will the 32 GB DDR4 memory and 3 TB NVMe storage need replacement?

The 32 GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-replaceable; the dual M.2 slots support up to 4 TB total, so future capacity upgrades are possible without replacing the original drives.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-8750H and Quadro P3200 run at full load?

The 6-core 2.20 GHz processor can reach 4.10 GHz turbo, but the shared vapor-chamber cooling will throttle clocks once the chassis hits its thermal ceiling during extended heavy workloads.

How loud and hot does the Precision 7730 get during all-day rendering?

Dual fans and a vapor chamber keep the 17.3" workstation within comfortable surface temperatures; fan noise rises to an audible but not intrusive level under continuous GPU and CPU load.
