Powered bookshelf pair for home listening

The Edifier R1280DBs is a 2.0 active speaker system sold as a matched pair. Each cabinet houses a 4-inch bass driver and a 13mm silk dome tweeter driven by built-in amplification. The speakers connect to each other with the supplied cable so only one unit needs mains power.

42W RMS continuous output with subwoofer line-out

The integrated amplifier delivers 42 watts of continuous undistorted power across the 55Hz to 20kHz frequency range. A dedicated subwoofer output with automatic crossover detection allows easy expansion for deeper bass without extra configuration.

Multiple wired and wireless inputs for sustained use

BLUETOOTH 5.0 provides stable wireless streaming from phones or computers. Optical and coaxial digital inputs give lossless connection to TVs or consoles, while analogue line-in covers legacy sources. The side-panel knobs and redesigned remote let you adjust volume, bass, treble and input selection without interrupting playback.

Questions about this item

How loud and clear will the 42 W RMS output sound in a typical living room?

The 42 W RMS rating means continuous undistorted power, so the pair can fill a medium-sized room with clean audio at high volumes without clipping.

What does Bluetooth 5.0 actually limit when I stream from my phone?

Bluetooth 5.0 caps the wireless link to its own codec bandwidth, so high-resolution files are compressed before they reach the speakers.

How much shelf depth do the speakers need, and where do the cables run?

Each cabinet houses a 4-inch bass unit and 13 mm silk dome tweeter; the supplied speaker cable links the passive unit to the powered one, so allow space for that connection at the rear.
