What this cable connects

The ESTONE T001A is a 65 ft Toslink optical cable with gold-plated male-to-male plugs and a braided nylon jacket. It links any device that has a square S/PDIF port — sound bars, TVs, game consoles, Blu-ray players or AV receivers — so multi-channel audio can pass between them without electrical interference.

Bandwidth and distance limits of Toslink

The interface carries uncompressed PCM stereo and compressed 5.1 to 7.1 formats such as Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD. It cannot transmit lossless multi-channel codecs like Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio because the optical standard does not have the bandwidth. At 65 ft the signal remains reliable for the supported formats, but longer runs would need a repeater or a different connection type.

Installation notes and common issues

The slim metal connectors slide into ports easily, and the pop-up plug design helps align the fibre core for a solid lock. The 2.2 mm inner core and 5.0 mm outer diameter make the cable flexible enough for tight bends behind furniture. The only frequent problem is a kink that exceeds the minimum bend radius, which permanently attenuates the light signal.

Questions about this item

Which length of this ESTONE Toslink cable should I pick for my setup?

The cable is supplied in a single 65 ft length, so choose it when you need a long run between a sound bar, TV or AV receiver and the source device.

What surround formats will I actually hear through this 65 ft optical link?

It carries uncompressed PCM and compressed 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 signals such as Dolby Digital Plus, DTS‑HD, ADAT and LPCM for multi‑channel home‑theatre sound.

What does the Toslink S/PDIF interface limit in practice?

The standard optical S/PDIF connection tops out at compressed 5.1 to 7.1 or stereo PCM, so lossless formats like Dolby TrueHD or DTS‑HD Master Audio cannot pass through it.
