Versatile 2-in-1 for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook x360 1040 is a 13.3 inch convertible laptop with a 360 degree hinge. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor at 1.7 GHz up to 3.6 GHz. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output. 16 GB DDR4 onboard memory and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD provide the main workspace.

Display and connectivity limits

The 1920 x 1080 IPS touchscreen uses Corning Gorilla Glass. Integrated graphics restrict heavy 3D or multi-monitor workloads. Wireless connectivity relies on Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi. Two USB-C ports support Thunderbolt; one USB 3.1 Gen 1 port adds charging capability. HDMI and a combo audio jack complete the physical interfaces.

Straightforward deployment

The device arrives as a sealed unit with memory soldered and storage fixed, so no internal assembly is required. Drivers for the touchscreen, Thunderbolt controllers and privacy features install automatically through Windows Update. The main friction point is the non-upgradeable 16 GB RAM ceiling, which limits future headroom for memory-intensive workflows.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 16 GB DDR4 option or the 8 GB DDR42133 option?

The 16 GB DDR4 configuration is onboard and non-upgradable, so select it if you run virtual machines or large datasets; the 8 GB DDR42133 variant suits lighter office workloads and saves cost.

What does the i5-8350U 1.7 GHz up to 3.6 GHz spec deliver in daily use?

The quad-core i5-8350U runs at 1.7 GHz base and boosts to 3.6 GHz on demand, giving snappy response for multitasking, web apps and light content creation while staying cool in the 13.3" chassis.

What do the two USB-C Thunderbolt ports actually support?

Both USB-C ports carry Thunderbolt signalling for 40 Gb/s data, DisplayPort video and power delivery, letting you drive dual 4K monitors or a high-speed NVMe dock from either side.
