Business ultrabook with dual storage

The HP ProBook 640 G5 is a 14-inch laptop built for office professionals who need reliable everyday performance. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8365U processor with 16 GB of DDR4 memory. Storage combines a 128 GB M.2 drive with a 1 TB SSD for operating system speed and file capacity. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed on the silver chassis.

Thermals and power in daily use

Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles standard business visuals without a discrete GPU adding heat. The 14.0-inch FHD IPS panel uses LED backlighting for efficient power draw during document work or video calls. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.1 provide wireless connectivity while keeping energy consumption modest. The non-touch display avoids the extra layer that can trap warmth.

Behaviour under sustained load

The quad-core processor operates at a 1.6 GHz base frequency with headroom for burst speeds when workloads intensify. Integrated graphics share system memory, so extended rendering or multiple external displays will draw from the 16 GB pool. Dual SSD storage maintains consistent read and write access during long sessions without mechanical slowdown. Active cooling manages thermals during prolonged compile or encryption tasks.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 128 GB M.2 drive and the 1 TB SSD, and which step is often missed?

The 128 GB M.2 drive fits the M.2 slot; the 1 TB SSD uses the 2.5-inch bay. The step often missed is securing the 2.5-inch drive with its caddy screws before closing the chassis.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 16 GB DDR4 memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded. If more capacity is required later, the only option is an external drive or cloud storage.

At what point does the Intel UHD Graphics 620 hit its limit during sustained workloads?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory and thermal budget with the i5-8365U; under sustained 3D or video loads it throttles first, capping frame rates and encode speed.
