Campus Wi-Fi 6 access point for high-density

The HPE Aruba Networking AP-534 (JZ332A) is a dual-radio 4x4 MIMO unified campus access point built for Wi-Fi 6 deployments. It targets enterprise sites such as lecture halls, open-plan offices and auditoriums where many clients share the same air space. Four RP-SMA connectors allow external dual-band antennas to be positioned for optimal coverage patterns.

Sustained load behaviour with OFDMA and MU-MIMO

Under continuous traffic the AP uses OFDMA and bidirectional MU-MIMO to serve multiple users simultaneously rather than in sequential bursts. Target wait time scheduling reduces contention and keeps latency predictable when dozens of stations are active. Aggregate peak rates reach 2.4 Gbps on 5 GHz and 1,150 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, while two 5 Gbps Smart Rate ports prevent the wired uplink from becoming the bottleneck.

Plenum-rated chassis with flexible mounting

The 24x24x5.7 cm housing carries a UL2043 plenum rating, so it can be installed in air-handling spaces without additional enclosures. Power options include 802.3bt PoE at 30 W, dual 802.3at at 25 W with intelligent power management, or direct DC at 29 W maximum. Two RJ-45 ports negotiate at 100 Mbps, 1, 2.5 or 5 Gbps, giving cabling flexibility for both new and existing cable plants.

Questions about this item

How much power does the AP-534 draw when running all day on a PoE+ switch with IPM enabled?

The unit consumes up to 25W when powered via 802.3at with IPM enabled, while 802.3bt or dual 802.3at raises the ceiling to 30W.

Which external antennas and cabling must I already have to install the JZ332A?

Four RP-SMA dual-band antennas are required; the AP provides four connectors but ships without antennas.

Will the two 5 Gbps Smart Rate ports negotiate down to my existing 2.5 Gbps or 1 Gbps wired backbone?

Yes, each port auto-negotiates to 5 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 1 Gbps or 100 Mbps to match the connected switch.
