HPE Aruba AP-634 Wi-Fi 6E Access Point

The HPE Aruba Networking AP-634 is a tri-radio campus access point built for enterprises that need the 6 GHz band. It serves high-density environments where video, cloud traffic and growing IoT device counts demand more capacity. Buyers who need only dual-band coverage or single-radio hardware will not match this specification.

Practical limits of Wi-Fi 6E tri-radio operation

The unit delivers a maximum aggregate 3.9 Gbps data rate across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands using 2x2 MIMO. Each radio operates concurrently, yet the 6 GHz spectrum requires client devices that support the same standard. Legacy clients remain on the lower bands and cannot use the wider channels.

Build quality with external RP-SMA and dual 2.5

The chassis measures 22x22x5 cm and weighs 1.3 Kg with a UL2043 plenum rating for ceiling spaces. Two sets of female RP-SMA connectors let you choose directional or omnidirectional antennas per radio chain. Dual Smart Rate RJ-45 ports auto-sense at 100, 1000 or 2500 Mbps and provide hitless failover for data and PoE power.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the AP-634 with external antennas or a model with internal antennas?

The AP-634 S1G50A uses two sets of dual RP-SMA connectors so you attach external antennas for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz radios. Choose this version when you need directional coverage or plenum mounting.

What does the 3.9 Gbps aggregate rate mean for real-world throughput?

The 3.9 Gbps figure is the maximum aggregate PHY rate across the three concurrent 2x2 radios; actual client throughput will be lower due to overhead, contention and channel conditions.

What does the 2.5 Gbps Smart Rate port cap in practice?

Each RJ-45 port auto-negotiates at 100, 1000 or 2500 Mbps; the 2.5 Gbps ceiling limits total wired backhaul to 2.5 Gbps per port even if the wireless aggregate is higher.
